    South Farm Schooling show

Had to get up before 7am this morning to get out to the farm.  Day was beautiful but a bit overly warm  Spent most of the day scribing for one of the dressage judges and had someone else shooting a few photos for me while I was doing that.  After noon I got to go spend a little while shooting pictures myself, so the ones posted in the slide show for May 28th are a mixture.  Mine are more zoomed in than the others.  Had camera on right settings this time so the photos came out with more clarity than last time.  Also had a tripod which helped stabilize the camera as well.  Quality on these photos is vastly improved from the Winona ones as a result of this.

    Winona Horse Trials

Headed down to the Hanoverton area of Northeast Ohio for the Cross  Country Eventing half of the Winona Horse Trials.  First horse was out of the start box at 8:30am. Oddly enough the most advanced group of riders had the most problems today with many riders having trouble on the course, some did not finish at all.  Weather was dark and dreary, a bit on the cold side and a slight and brief rain shower late in the morning.  The last division of riders was in the process of being run when a thunderstorm came up rather quickly and forced things to be put on hold for nearly an hour.   Finally got riders going after things had quieted down and barely managed to get the last horses on the course when another storm threatened with thunder and lightning.  They were fortunately able to finish but not before it had started raining again pretty hard and everyone was scrambling to get packed up and into vehicles before they got soaked.  Fun day, got some nice pictures though not as many as I would have liked as I was helping run timing for the event but beautiful course and worth the bad weather to come see.
